    Todos enfrentan el estrés de distintas maneras.  A mi me gusta practicar algo que se llama "danza meditativa.”

    (Everyone deals with stress in different ways.  I like to practice something called “meditative dance.”)

     

    La “danza meditativa” es cuando se pone música y se baila como se quiera...como se siente en el momento sin pensar en cómo se vea...solo se enfoca en la respiración y el movimiento libre del cuerpo.  

    (Meditative dance is when you put on music and dance how you want... however you feel in the moment without thinking what you look like...you just focus on breathing and free movement of the body.)

     

    En vez de sentarse y meditar...es moverse y meditar. (Instead of sitting and meditating, it’s moving and meditating.)

     

    Entonces, ¡pon tu música favorita y haz tu forma de danza meditativa! (So, put on your favorite music and do your own meditative dance!) 

     

    Remember: Be kind to yourselves and others, be as productive as possible, but don’t stress too much! 💛🖤🦅✊

    Pasito a pasito means “little step to little step.”  Basically, “take things one step at a time.”  

     

    Muchos dias, A lot of these days, lately, this is how I’ve been feeling:

    I think some of you can probably relate. 

    But that’s when I have to remember to take a deep breath, and take it “Pasito a pasito.”

     

    Whenever, we get overwhelmed sometimes it helps to focus on one little thing we can do, and then the next, and the next, and before we know it, the huge task that was in front of us, is a lot more manageable.  

     

    So...I miss you very much, I care about you, and I hope you all are going to take it “Pasito a pasito” as we head into our new virtual learning experience…

    ¡¡¡Hola mis estudiantes!!! (Hi students!!)

     

    Les extraño y espero que todos esten bien :) ( Miss you all and hope everyone is doing well).

     

    Subí algunos recursos en mis paginas para las clases de español 1 & 2. (I uploaded some resources in my class pages for Spanish 1 & 2). 

     

    Ahorita estamos en tiempos de incertidumbre y les quiero dar alguna inspiración positiva. Recuerden que aunque hay mucha incertidumbre es importante enfocarnos en lo que podemos controlar.  (Right now we are in uncertain times, and I want to give you some positive inspiration. Remember that even though there is a lot of uncertainty it is important to focus on what we can control). 

     

    Here is a quote that I really like referring to the power of meditation: “By even a little awareness of our power to control our breathing, we regain access to some of of our deepest truths: that we are loved, that we are of singular value, and that we have the power to choose what we hold on to— good, or bad.” -- K. Carter.

    Here are some validations and hopeful phrases to say to yourself:

     

    “This is hard. But, you’ve done hard things before, and I believe in you.”

     

    “I know there’s a lot that could go wrong. What could go right?”

     

    “It’s not fun to feel like this, but is there something small I could do today that I would enjoy?” 

     

    “It’s probably really hard to find good in this situation, but let’s take it one day at a time and things will change.”

     

    “You are important, you are kind, you are smart, and even though it’s hard, you’ve got this.”

    ¡Hola familia de la clase de español! (Hi Spanish class family!)

    Muy pronto, voy a añadir recursos para su aprendizaje del español mientras la escuela está cerrada hasta el 22 de abril. 

    (Very soon, I will be adding resources for your Spanish learning, while the school is closed until April 22nd).  

     

    Vamos a nuevos territorios con nuestro aprendizaje virtual, entonces que seamos pacientes porque todos estamos averiguando cómo navegar esta situación nueva.  (We are going into new territory with our virtual learning, so let’s all be patient because we are all figuring out how to navigate this new situation).

     

    Leí este en un post de Melanie Fiona por Instagram y me dio mucho sentido su mensaje especialmente ahora que estamos compartiendo mucho tiempo y espacio con nuestros familiares y no podemos salir de la casa.  (I read this in a post by Melanie Fiona on Instagram and it made a lot of sense to me, especially now that we are sharing a lot of time and space with family members and we can’t leave the house). 

     

    “How do you manage your response to stress, anxiety, and disappointment? Try this… H.A.L.T. (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired)...as in, “Am I hungry, angry, lonely, or tired right now?” This acronym helps to make you STOP and think about how you feel before you react to a situation.  It may sound simple, but when your basic needs aren’t met, rational thinking goes out the door. HALT. BREATHE. ASSESS. RESPOND...and if that still doesn’t help, go sit your a-- down somewhere and cool off. 💙” Melanie Fiona.
