If you are feeling nervous about starting this new year completely online, you are not alone. I'm nervous, too! In order to make this year the best we can, we will have to work together so we can make the best out of this!
Like the fourth quarter last year, we will be using Microsoft Teams for school and learning. But instead of just looking at assignments, we will be meeting virtually everyday on camera! (So don't forget to change out of your pajamas and make sure there isn't anything in your teeth.)
If there is ever a time where you feel overwhelmed, reach out. I am here to support you and help you the best I can.
I miss you all so much. I wish I could see you all in the halls again and play goofy games on Fridays. But I'm glad that we are staying safe and doing what is best for the health of our families and communities.
I am so excited to see your faces online! And yes, I still want you all everyday to Be The Light!
Here's what to expect for the next couple of weeks:
All assignments will be posted here on my Teacher Web Page under "Assignments" on the left hand side as well as on my Microsoft Teams page.
Hopefully by now you have been able to get into your student email using your username and password at mail.slps.org. When you sign into your email, you'll find messages from teachers inviting you to their Teams.
Make sure you keep up with all work for all classes and don't fall behind. It has been a while since we've been doing work but make sure you develop good habits quickly!
I'll have about 3-4 assignments for you weekly. Don't worry, they won't require a lot of work for you. My goal is that you stay musical during this time, spend time with family, and remember to have fun.
Keep up healthy habits like drinking water, sleeping enough, eating well, and stay as active as you can.
I hope you know how much I miss you all. Even though I love spending more time with Hugo, I wish I was back at Busch teaching you all everyday. I know some days are hard but I wouldn't want to be teaching any other students at any other school in the world. The students at Busch are the funniest and brightest kids in all of St. Louis and us teachers were so lucky we got to teach you everday.
While we're away from Busch, I've been going on lots of walks, reading everyday, and doing yoga. And of course I've been watching lots of TV - I'm only human! I also have been eating all of my snacks non-stop out of boredom. I try to play my piano and ukulele as much as I can but sometimes it makes me sad because it makes me think about how much I'd rather be playing music with you all.
In the next few weeks this is where you will come to find your assignments for this class. I will also have a Microsoft Teams page that you can join to find and turn in assignments. I'm sure that having to dive right back into school after this long and unexpected break seems scary, but I promise I won't ask too much of you. All I want is for you to keep music in your lives and connect with your family through music.
I hope you all are staying safe and healthy. Keep reading, drinking lots of water, and being kind. In hard times like this the most important thing to do is be kind to others, you never know what they may be going through especially when things get rough.
