Music Learning Tracks

  • This year, MAGI music classes will be split into tracks, not grade levels. Each student can choose which track they would like to follow based on thier prior musical knowledge, interest, and access to instruments at home. The tracks that each student can choose from are:

    1. Beginner Track: This track is geared towards PK-1st grade. We will be learning songs, listening and talking about music, and learning some musical vocabulary that will help us in future years at Mallinckrodt. This track does not require the student to have any instruments at home.

    2. Percussion Track: Geared toward students in grades 2-5, but can be completed by anyone. This track focuses on advanced rhythms through drums and percussion. This track does not require the student to have any instruments at home.

    3. Guitar Track: Geared toward students in grades 2-5, but can be completed by anyone. This track focuses on the guitar, including reading and playing guitar sheet music, and creating chords on guitar. This track requires that students have access to a guitar at home.

    4. Piano Track: Geared toward students in grades 2-5, but can be completed by anyone. This track focuses on piano, including finding notes on the keyboard and playing sheet music written for piano. This track requires that students have access to a piano or keyboard at home.

This is a very short description of the tracks! There is a much longer video describing the track system on the MAGI music Teams page! You can find this video by going to the "general" tab and looking under "files."
