Welcome Kindergarten Families and Scholars!
Greetings! My name is Brittany Stephens and I will be your Kindergarten teacher this year. I am so excited about meeting you! We are going to learn so many new and exciting things this school year.
My Education
I was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. I attended Macon State College and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood and Special Education in 2010. A month after graduating, I went back to school again! In 2011, I received my Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. Then, after a short 6 month break, I went back to school again! I received my Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement from Georgia College and State University in May 2013.
My Career
Even though this is my first year at Ashland Elementary School, this is not my first year teaching. I began teaching in 2010. I taught Kindergarten for 3 years in Macon, Georgia. After the end of my third year, I transitioned into my position working with English Language Learners. I worked with ELL students for a total of 4 years. In 2018, after getting married, I moved to Maryland and served as a 1st and 2nd grade teacher in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Last year was my first year working in St. Louis Public schools! This will be my second year teaching Kindergarten here at Ashland!
