My name is Mr. Mitchell and I will be teaching 4th Grade English/Language/Arts and Science. I am married to my beautiful wife Kenya. I have always loved food and recently became a vegatarian. I wanted to adopt a healthier lifestyle. I am a member of The Tabernacle Church on Ashland and my love for our city inspires me to serve it as it has served me. I was born and rasied in North St. Louis City where I attended SLPS in Elementary, Middle, and High School. Early on as a student, I struggled quite a bit. Had it not been for the resilient educators at SLPS, I wouldn't have had the priviledge of graduating from Gateway Institute of Technology in 2004.

I began substitute teaching at SLPS in 2012. I've held many roles from Instructional Care Aide to Positive Behavior Intervention Specialist. My experience has taught me how to provide a safe learning environment while empowering students to attain exceptional academic and personal achievement. Last year, I began my residency teaching journey with St. Louis Teacher Residency. After a full year in the classroom, I am proud of my ability to develop and implement aligned lesson plans while efficiently communicating with my students. I've worked hard to create a positive classroom community that encourages students to become life-long learners.
