Dr. Berry believes our city needs school leaders who understands their needs. She is honored to be named Interim Superintendent, and promises to unify the work and messaging of the District through servant leadership.Dr. Myra Berry’s journey with Saint Louis Public Schools began over 20 years ago when she accepted a position as a Special Education Teacher at Turner Middle School in the Ville neighborhood of north St. Louis. After teaching at Turner Middle and Clark Elementary, Myra’s career continued in multiple roles and buildings in the district, including work as an instructional coach at Peabody School, Principal at Lexington Elementary, and then to the Director of Performance Management role in the Human Resources department. In 2023, Dr. Berry stepped into the Interim Chief of Human Resources role where she has served SLPS staff throughout a period of fluctuation in the District.
The daughter of Vashon alumnus, her St. Louis pride runs deep, and Dr. Berry believes our city needs school leaders who understands their needs. She is honored to be named to the role of Interim Superintendent of Saint Louis Public Schools, and promises to unify the work and messaging of the District through servant leadership. Her personal and professional mission is to “build better foundations for the grounds upon which our children will walk.” Dr. Berry believes that the future is bright for the city of St. Louis, all our children, and the dedicated staff of Saint Louis Public Schools.
