SLPS Updates Central Office Reopening Timeline to July 20

July 1, 2026

Saint Louis Public Schools is updating the anticipated reopening date for its Central Office building to Monday, July 20, 2026, to allow additional time for final building improvements and one additional round of precautionary environmental testing.

Over the past several weeks, the district has made significant progress preparing the facility for employees to return, with substantial repairs and improvements completed throughout the building. As remaining work has continued, weather-related delays last week affected the roof replacement project.

Independent environmental testing has already confirmed the building is ready for occupancy, and the district has elected to conduct one additional round of Legionella testing to further validate the effectiveness of precautionary measures already in place. Results from that testing are expected in approximately two weeks.

The revised reopening date will allow contractors to complete remaining work and enable the district to reopen the building following both the completion of construction activities and the review of the additional testing results.

When employees return, they will find several improvements throughout the affected areas of the building, including:

  • New flooring
  • Fresh paint
  • New ceiling tiles
  • Drywall replacement
  • Cooling tower replacement
  • Roof replacement
  • Additional updates to enhance the look and feel of affected spaces

Central Office employees will continue working from their current temporary locations until July 20.

Saint Louis Public Schools appreciates the continued patience, flexibility, and professionalism of its employees throughout this process and looks forward to welcoming Central Office staff back on Monday, July 20.
