Disability Insurance
The short-term disability plan is a fully-insured plan, administered by New York Life Insurance Company. All full time permanent employees will be enrolled in short term disability coverage after 90 days of employment. This coverage pays 60% of base (gross) pay after a 30 day waiting period. Pay starts on the thirty-first (31st) consecutive working day of absence for up to a maximum of twenty-six (26) weeks from start of disability. Benefits are paid on a weekly basis.
The long-term disability plan is fully-insured plan, administered by New York Life Insurance Company with the terms and conditions of the plan documents. Long-term disability pays 60% of base (gross) pay after a 180 day waiting period. The 180 day waiting period includes the twenty-six weeks of STD, up to the employee’s eligibility for normal Social Security benefits, provided the employee remains disabled. Benefits are paid on a monthly basis.
