November 2016 Family Newsletter
From the Principal
I hope this monthly newsletter provides you with information on our upcoming events at Stix! Thank you to all of the parents who attended parent conferences in October. It is extremely important that we work together to ensure your child’s success this school year. Please know that you can always make an appointment to meet with your child’s teacher throughout the school year if you have concerns or questions about your child’s academic growth.
K.I.S.S. Days at Stix!
Kids Invite Someone Special are days when the children can have someone important in their lives spend some time with them at school. During the KISS hours, visitors can see classroom lessons or specialist classes, tour the school with their child, and visit the Book Fair in the library. KISS Days will be:
Tuesday, November 15, 9:30 – 11:00 for grades PK & K
Wednesday, November 16, 9:30 – 11:00 for grades 1 & 2
Visitors may park in the bus lanes starting at 9:30 on both days.
Science and Math Night at Stix
We will have a Science and Math Night at Stix. Parents and children will participate in activities that will strengthen the children’s math and science skills. Teachers will be available to answer parents’ questions about the Envision Math Program. More detailed information will be sent home later in the month, but please mark Wednesday, November 30th on your calendars!
Did you know that parents may check out books in the Stix Library? We even have a Parent Resource section with books on parenting and child development. First and Second grade students may check out one book at a time to take home. Kindergarteners may check out a book to take back to their classroom for practice in caring for books - and not losing them! Preschoolers enjoy books in our library. Stop by our library before or after school (or anytime during the day) to see our wonderful collection of books!
Don’t be late!
Please help us maintain our good attendance record by ensuring your child comes to school on time, every day! Families of children who accumulate late arrivals, early dismissals and frequent absences will be contacted by our Social Worker, Ms. Kuc. We need everyone here every day!Important Dates in November
