Welcome to Kindergarten!
Dear Families,
Hi! My name is Robin Jung and I will be your child’s kindergarten teacher for the 2022-2023 school year! I can’t wait to meet them! This is my sixth year in Kindergarten at Laclede Elementary and my eleventh year in the St. Louis Public School District. I earned my bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Mo. St. Louis and have a Master's degree from Lindenwood University. I am certified in Early Childhood Education as well as in Reading. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, gardening, and spending time with my family.
Your children will learn and grow as a reader by identifying upper and lowercase letters and identify what sound they make. They will learn how to blend those sounds together to read words. Your child will be able to recognize many sight words that are found in all the books we will be reading.
Your child will work on many skills to develop their writing. They will draw pictures to represent their writing, learn how to form letters, use sound spelling, spacing, and using upper case letters to begin a sentence.
For math, learning numbers and what they stand for, like connecting the number “5” with a picture of five apples. We will learn shapes. patterns, colors, time, money addition, and subtraction.
I am here for anything you need to ensure your child’s success in kindergarten. I am looking forward to getting to know your child and your family.
I am so excited about all the wonderful things your child will experience this year. I am looking forward to meeting you on our first day of school, Monday, August 22, 2022.
