Mrs. Noor Ahmed
As a bilingual in Arabic and English I have the opportunity to help students and families whom English is not their first language. I am looking forward to helping all students from all backgrounds to go to college or find their best fit career after high school.
My name is Noor Ahmed and I am a College Adviser at Gateway STEM High School. I work with MCAC which stands for Missouri College Adviser Corps. MCAC hires recent graduates to work in 43 partner high schools across Missouri to empower Missouri students to go to college and succeed. MCAC partner schools have high percentages of first-generation-college, low-income, and underrepresented students at risk of not going to college. MCAC college advisers help students understand that they can complete a college degree, find their “best fit” postsecondary institution, and navigate the process of applying for admission and financial aid. As an adviser I am immersed in the school and available to guide students through the college planning and preparation, applications, and financial aid processes.
I was born in Iraq, but I left my country when I was 11 years old. I moved to the US when I was 14 and I have lived in St. Louis ever since. I graduated high school from SLPS in 2013 and went to UMSL and graduated in 2018. I have worked full-time with students of all ages ranging from pre-school to college students: as a teacher, assistant teacher, tutor, as well as a bilingual tutor and translator over a period of more than 4 years. I'm currently pursuing a Master's degree in Education and plan on pursuing a permanent College Adviser job after MCAC.
