FCS Introduction Letter
Degrees and Certifications:
Greetings Columbia Families,
Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year! I hope you and your family are well and managing, during these challenging times we are currently facing. My name is Ms. Roxana Jones and I am the Family and Community Specialist (FCS) at Columbia Elementary. As you know, we will be engaging in Virtual Learning for the first Quarter of this school year which is August 31-October 16, 2020.
My goals for the year are to increase Parental Involvement, ensure that our families are knowledgeable of Federal, State, District, and School policies, collaborate with community stakeholders to generate resources for our school, and provide resources to our families to ensure that our students have the ability to learn and thrive in a safe environment.
Until further notice, all Title I Information Meetings, Workshops, Monthly Parent Meetings, and PTO will take place virtually via Zoom and/or Microsoft Teams to ensure safety.
Remember, education is an investment. Research shows that students whose families are engaged in their child’s educational career perform better, both academically and socially. Parental engagement requires family participation in meetings, events, and volunteer opportunities within your child’s school. Being involved also allows families to network, share ideas and thoughts and be included in the decision making process.
This year will look a little differently but we will get through it together and keep the lines of communication open. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have at (314) 533-2750 ext. 24632 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org
