I am so happy to be back with you all in person for our 8th grade year! We are going to have a terrific time using our new technology to study and investigate early American History!

1. Students should be prepared with their iPad and charger everyday.

2. Participation and engagement are a big focus this semster! Take care of your work and ask questions if you have them!

3. Please be sure that your students is prepared with the proper face coverings and other mandatory health precautions to keep them and others safe.

4.  We are making a change to Standards based learning, meaning student mastery is very important.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, and welcome to Long International Middle School!! I will be the 8th Grade Social Studies and Project Lead The Way teacher at LIMS year. Being back in person is going to be so great for all of us to get to know one another, find our strengths, and grow/prepare for high school next year! Coming back to school after so long can be stressful. I, and your other teachers, are here to help each and everyone of you. Technology and teamwork are going to be a big part of our class this year, and the rest of your lives. Lets get to it!

Hiking and experiencing nature are some of my favorite things! I have spent weeks at national parks, and use my weekends to go for nice walks in the city or out on a trail. My favorite game right now is Pokemon Go! I have not played it in such a long time, there are pokemon I have never heard of.  I LOVE music. As often as I can, I go to concerts or smaller shows in the St. Louis areas to expose myself to as much new music as I can. I also have over 100 records that I play in my apartment all the time. If you have any music suggestions, please share! I also coach basketball and track and field to keep me busy!

In teaching I believe strongly in student lead learning. Students are the most successful when they have opportunities to showcase their skills and learning themselves. This year especially, students will have opportunities to teach themselves some information and attack every assignment on their own. This helps them feel empowered, engaged, and fully invested in their work. As we move closer to a Standards Based Learning approach, students mastery and reapproaching the information so they understand it, not just get it done.

I recieved my B.S in Secondary Social Studies Educaiton from Indiana University-Bloomington. GO HOOSIERS! I am eager to continue my education in pursuit of a Masters Degree in the near future.
