My name is Kathy Allen and I am very excited to be your child’s kindergarten teacher this year. I am thrilled for this opportunity and look forward to a year of learning, fun, and adventure! I can’t wait to learn all about your child, but first let me tell you a little about me.
I was born and raised right here near downtown St. Louis. I have two young adult children, ages 29 and 25, and a dog – Macey Shae. My philosophy of education is that education should foster the ‘whole’ child. By this, I mean it should develop character and emotional stability, as well as, academic and social awareness.
I have been teaching for 20 years. My experiences include teaching children in grades pre-kindergarten through 1st grades. I was a reading interventionist for 12 years (my favorite!) and have taught children with Autism at Special School District. I am very passionate about the gift of teaching I have been given! It brings great joy to my heart when I am able to share in the learning and growth of children. My hobbies are dance, traveling, and spending time with my family.
I think it is very important to work together as a classroom family. We will be spending a lot of time together, so it is important to treat each other with respect, kindness, and compassion. I look forward to partnering with you for your child’s success and meeting all of you soon!
