Mrs. Tomeika M Stokes

Welcome To "#TEAM SOURCE."

My name is Mrs. Tomeika M. Stokes, and I am the Resource Teacher here at GATEWAY MST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL......Come meet with me Virtually in RM: 169 Microsoft Teams Street.

This is the place where we will learn how to work on our "MINDSET FOR SUCCESS." I will be Virtually working with the General Education Teachers to ensure that your child's School Goals are being met.

Now on to how I became the Teacher that I am today.........

The passion to be involved in the field of education started with my firstborn. I was his first teacher and advocate to ensure that he would be successful in kindergarten and the rest of his school career. This started with a good early childhood beginning. The preschool program in our district was where my children attended and where I got my start as an assistant teacher. I have spent twenty plus years sharpening my skills in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education. Within that time period, I became an advocate for MPACT, an agency free to parents of students with Individual Education Plans(IEP) to ensure they knew their students' rights. I continued to participate in my children's education volunteering and attending college to become a professional at what I enjoyed. I chose k-12 Special Education over the Early Childhood field. I spent my first certified position as a High School teacher at a therapeutic school and just finished the 2019-20 school year serving here as a 5th grade Cross Categorical Self-Contained classroom instructor. As mentioned above, I am now the new Resource Teacher .(Rm: 169) I am looking forward to this 2020-21 school year being a year of Success. We work better as a TEAM..........

I look forward to each school year to serve the parents and students to prepare them for where they are in their school journey.
