Biography:

Hello students and families! My name is Kate Chester, and I am the 7th Grade English teacher. I am part of an amazing group of teachers, and we are ready to give students our all this year. I originally received a degree in Psychology from UMSL in 2012. A few years ago, I decided to go back to school to become a teacher, and now I'm on my second year at AESM - where I have found a second family.

I spend most of my time either working, studying, and enjoying my family time. I am the proud mother of a 3 year old little boy, who is my world. And like most of our families, I am working and teaching my son all home. In my very spare free time, I like to bake, go on hikes, reading fun novels, playing Animal Crossing, and drinking my daily hot cup of earl grey tea!

This ELA class will help our students work on becoming pro readers and writers. We will be focusing on a different topic for every quarter, but for quarter one our unit will be about survival. Some of our essential questions are: How do culture, time, and place influence identity? and How can we help people struggling in the world?  We will use these questions to guide our learning.
