keyboard Welcome, my name is Amy Goforth and I am the music teacher at Oak Hill Elementary School.   This is my 19th year at Oak Hill Elementary and I really enjoy working with your children.  I received my B.S. in Music Education from SIU Carbondale and I have several hours toward a Masters in Music Education from SIU Edwardsville. Besides teaching music full time, I am very active in the music ministry at my church. My newest activity in music is composing sacred choral music. I’m trying to get published!

Reading is the most important skill in today's educational world.  Reading is an important way to receive information.  We can receive some information from TV news, but that is very limited. If you can read, you can find out about almost anything from books, magazines, the internet, and newspapers. You can choose what you learn about and when you want to learn about it. Reading is a wonderful way to spend leisure time. I enjoy reading books by David Baldacci.  There are genres of books for every person’s interest. Most importantly, reading is vital for everyday living. You use it when you shop, cook, go out to eat, buy gas, travel, go to concerts, sports events…the list could go on and on.

I really hope that music classes at Oak Hill are enjoyable for all students.   A large portion our students really seem to like to sing and perform.  I am really looking forward to the wide variety of music programs this year and hope to see you there.
