Ms. Jenna Sommer

My name is Ms. Jenna Sommer, and I am excited to be teaching 3rd grade at Peabody Elementary for the 2020-2021 Academic School Year.

I graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.A. in English & Italian Studies, and a minor in Women & Gender Studies.  Prior to finishing my degree, I spent about two years living Italy, where I worked as an Au Pair and taught English as a private instructor. During my high school education, I sought out the opportunity to study abroad as a Rotary International Exchange Student and spent one year living in Taipei, Taiwan (R.O.C.).  Literacy and Languages are some of my favorite topics of interest, and in my free time I am usually studying to acquire a new language skill, writing short stories, painting, practicing an instrument, or running.  I am an avid runner, and have done three full marathons.

For the past three years I have held a position as a St. Jude Hero Ambassador, in which I attend meetings and work on recruitment and fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the St. Louis region.

I am so grateful and excited for this opportunity to teach at Peabody, and I look forward to getting know each and every student.  In the words of Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." My life has been transformed through my educational experiences, and it is something I am passionate about sharing with our future generations.

Welcome Back!
