Mr. Laleman

Welcome to Mr. Laleman's American Literature and Modern Poetry Class!

A little about myself:  I grew up across the river in Collinsville, IL (Home of the Largest Catsup Bottle), and attended Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  I also have a Masters in Political Studies from the University of Illinois in Springfield and a Masters in Education for Library Media K - 12 from Lindenwood University.  I am a big fan of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Marvel.

In Junior English 3 American Literature, we'll be studying various types of literature concerning today's topical issues, along with writing different types of essays, preparing you for the ACT, reading and analyzing the plays "Raisin in the Sun" and "The Crucible" and the novel "Hidden Figures," reviewing important US Documents for meaning and impact, and studying short stories and poems from various writers, such as Edgar Allen Poe, Langston Hughes Mark Twain, Alice Walker and Maya Angelou.  My hope is for all of you to develop a love for, understanding of, and competency in the various pieces of literature we cover throughout the year.  Please feel free to contact me if you ever have any questions, and here's to a new and exciting school year!

My planning periods are Monday and Wednesday after lunch during the 4th hr. and Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 6th hr., if you need to get in contact with me.
