Ms. Shanice Webb
Dear Patrick Henry staff and families,
My name is Shanice Webb, and I am happy to introduce myself as your Family and Community Specialist for the 2021-2022 school year. I am so excited to fulfill this role with passion to build strong relationships between staff and families, as well as community partners. I would like to give you all a small introduction about my career duration in Saint Louis Public Schools district. I have been present here at Patrick Henry Downtown Academy for five years and currently this is my sixth. Throughout my years in the district I’ve had multiple roles, starting in Special Education as an Instruction Care Aide. I then transitioned into Early Childhood as a Pre School Teacher Aide, which I both spent two years in.
As we all know, the unprecedented pandemic has created many challenging hurdles and unfortunate circumstances, putting many families through hardships. Last year, our district partially went virtual for the first quarter, with the remainder of the school year being in-person after October. This school year, our students and staff will be 100% in-person. Patrick Henry was successful for having 0% of COVID-19 cases. With that said, our staff and students learning in person will continue to prioritize the practice of CDC/DOH social distance guidelines.
Each year, I collaborate with our community partners to assist our students and their families with great resources. My main goal for our families is to increase parental involvement through all forms of communication (phone, email, video calls). Another goal that I want to achieve is to assist with families to set and track goals for their children through social emotional learning and enhance student academic progress.
I take pride in choosing this role at Patrick Henry because I have invested my time in building relationships with staff and parents throughout my years regardless of what role I’ve had thus far. As someone who works well in collaboration with others, the community is at the forefront of performing a role that will help me establish relationships school wide and beyond. I want my role as your Family and Community Specialist to challenge myself. Also, I want to implement school district policies for student behavior, attendance and achievement through this year’s in-person learning.
As always, I am looking forward to collaborating and supporting all staff as well as families in the community to ensure that my work through community partners and Patrick Henry can provide direct resources that will benefit students' academic progress.
