Mr. John Hamilton

Hello 6th grade students & families!

Welcome back to school! I am so excited to have each and every one of you here as we kick off an amazing new year together. I want you to know that this is a place where you belong, and we're thrilled to have you as part of our 6th-grade family. I am Mr. Hamilton, and I am looking forward to being your math teacher this year! This is my 4th year of teaching, and my 3rd year at Compton-Drew. Prior to moving to the 6th grade floor, I taught 7th grade pre-algebra. I was born and raised in the Metro St. Louis area, and I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Go Tigers! I come from a large family, and I am looking forward to getting to know you and your family throughout this school year. In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, Mizzou basketball and football games, spades nights with the fam, and relaxing on the couch and watching tv. For any of you who participate in after-school activities or sports, I am looking forward to attending your events and supporting you in any way I can.

Middle school is an incredible journey, and this year is all about exploring, learning, and growing. You are going to dive into some cool subjects, ask big questions, and discover new talents you might not even know you had. And guess what? It's totally okay to have questions – that's how we learn and grow!

But it's not just about books and classes. Middle school is also a time to make friends, build relationships, and become the best version of yourself. Let's remember to be kind to one another, to include everyone, and to create a positive and supportive atmosphere where everyone feels valued.

I know that challenges might come our way, but that's where the real growth happens. Don't be afraid to face them head-on. Mistakes? They're just opportunities to learn and improve, so let's embrace them and keep moving forward.

This year is a chance for us to create memories that will last a lifetime. Let's work together, support each other, and make the most of every single day. I'm here for you, your teachers are here for you, and your fellow classmates are here for you too.

Again, welcome to middle school 6th grade! Let’s Go!!!

Sincerely,

Mr. Hamilton
