Dear Pierre Laclede Junior Career Academy Scholars and Families,

My name is Charles Robinson, and I am the School Social Worker at Pierre Laclede Junior Career Academy. This school year (21-22) presents us with challenges similar to those we faced last year. We are still trying to find balance between how we function each day, while maintaining personal safety (due to COVID-19). I remain confident that we can reach the goals of “staying safe” and educating our scholars. As always, we must maintain the lines of communication, via phone call, text, email, or through Microsoft TEAMS. By doing this, we will give our scholars and families the best opportunity to thrive in these challenging time.

As you know, school social workers are an integral link between school, home, and the community in helping students achieve academic and social success. This is also true for our new virtual journey. As your School Social Worker, I will assist in addressing social, emotional, and/or behavioral issues that affect the well-being of the student, both in and out of the school environment, which includes our current virtual journey.

My services include, but are not limited to:

-Connecting families with community resources 

-Consultation with staff, students, parents, and community partners

-Classroom interventions and prevention

-Crisis intervention

-Short-term individual counseling with students

-Addressing issues of non-attendance and truancy

-Conduct home visits

-Participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and/or 504  process

Social work services are available to all student's enrolled at Pierre Laclede Junior Career Academy through parent, teacher, or self-referral.
