Hello! My name is Ms. Dillon and this is my first year teaching at Vashon. I will be teaching personal finance and law.

I graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary History and Social Studies Education and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. I recently moved to the St. Louis area in June, and I grew up in Minnesota.

My teaching philosophy centers around consistancy and fairness. I believe that students need to feel, not only that their teacher cares about them, but that their teacher firmly and wholly believes in them. In secondary classrooms, the input of the students is critical in creating an environment where students feel safe to explore new concepts. I value respect, and feel that it is important to keep expectations consistant in order to provide students with the discipline they need to succeed. I provide my students with all of the tools and resources they need in order to succeed in not only my class, but throughout the rest of their lives as well. I believe knowledge is one of the most powerful tools a person can have, and I aim to provide young people with the knowledge they need to achieve their goals in life.

My hobbies include backpacking, camping, reading, running, dancing, spending time with friends and family, and hanging out with my geckos and hamster. In the summer months I work at a summer camp on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin, most recently serving as their Waterfront Director, and am also incredibly passionate about outdoor education!
