A Little Bit About Me:
Welcome back for the 2022-2023 school year! This will be my second year teaching here at Mason, but my 16th year of teaching special education overall.
How am I qualified to teach your child?
During the past 16 years I have obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education, a Master of Arts in Special Education with a focus on Autism, and an Educational Specialist degree in Mental Health Practices in Schools. I am lifetime certified in Elementary Education 1-6, as well as Cross-categorical Special Education K-12.
What will we be doing in the classroom?
Our focus in the classroom is on the growth of your child as a whole person; academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. We get to know each child on a personal level, what they like, what they don't like, how they learn best, and so on to help us tailor lessons, goals, and activities. They spend a great deal of time with us at school and we want them to get the most out of their time here.
Keep in Touch:
Along with getting to know your child, we also want you as a parent/guardian to feel good about your child's education. Please feel free to email me at amanda.jagears@slps.org, it will be the fastest way to get in touch. Email is checked frequently during the school day and until 5 pm during the school week. If you email over the weekend, I will respond the next school day.
