A Little Bit About Me:
Welcome back for the 2021-2022 school year! This will be my first year teaching here at Mason, but my 15th year of teaching special education overall. My family and I recently moved back to St. Louis City from the Rolla, MO area and I am so happy to be back. My family includes my husband, two kids Delaney and Logan, 2 cats Steve and Toothless, and one dog named Tweedle.
How am I qualified to teach your child?
During the past 15 years I have obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary and Special Education, Master of Arts in Special Education with a focus on Autism, and a Educational Specialist degree in Mental Health Practices in Schools. I am lifetime certified in Elementary Education 1-6, as well as Cross-categorical Special Education K-12.
What will we be doing in the classroom?
Our focus in the classroom is on the growth of your child as a whole person; academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. We get to know each child on a personal level, what they like, what they don't like, how they learn best, and so on to help us tailor lessons, goals, and activities. They spend a great deal of time with us here at school and we want them to get the most out of their time here.
Keep in Touch:
Along with getting to know your child, we also want you as a parent/guardian to feel good about your child's education. Please feel free to call or text my number (314) 690-3141 any time. I will check it regularly during the week from 8 am until 4 pm. Of course you can also email me at Amanda.Jagears@slps.org as well.
