Ms. Andrea Mears

Hello Yeatman Tigers!

My name is Ms. Mears and I am teaching 8th grade science this year. First, I would like to express how excited I am to meet the students and families that make up this community. This is my first year at Yeatman and third year working for St. Louis Public Schools. I am originally from California and moved to Missouri in 2006. I attended Missouri State University, where I earned a B.S. in Environmental Plant Science. I am currently a resident with St. Louis Teacher Residency and working on a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning from Washington University in St. Louis. I love listening to music, camping, painting, and spending time with my daughter, Hazel.

My mindset going into this year is to provide every student with rigorous lessons rooted in care and support for the diverse student body at Yeatman. I want to help every student refine their work habits, ability to resolve conflicts peacefully, and to think independently. I am confident this year we can build a positive learning environment and meaningful relationships. I am here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime. I look forward to a fun year of learning about science with your student!

In addition to our school vision and values, in our science classroom we will live by the following:

Classroom Vision for Student Learning:

Science is a portal for humans to better understand the world around us. We get to use our imagination, make discoveries, and express our findings through language, art, and math.  We will be prepared for our future by creating a culture of respect  and understanding while striving for academic excellence. It will take mindfulness, boldness, and teamwork to reveal Earth’s  phenomena and reach our individual and collective goals!
