• Our Mission: We believe LEADers change the world!

Our Vision: We will model LEADership qualities for future success while serving the whole child.

Nahed Chapman New American Academy is a St. Louis Public School that serves only children in grades K-8 who are new to the United States and have a score of 2.0 or below on the ACCESS Screener.  Students can only stay at NCNAA for a maximum of two years before they are able to transition to one of our ESOL Center Schools.  ESOL Center Schools provide ESOL support to students based on their individual need.

At NCNAA, students are placed in grade specific classrooms based on age. Instruction is conducted primarily in English with a scaffold of supports based on student need.  Class sizes are kept as low as possible to maximize learning.  Teachers use SIOP strategies in the classroom to engage all students in learning.  Lessons have a clear focus on both a content and language objective.  Reading, Writing, Language, and Math are our core subjects.  Science and Social Studies concepts are imbedding within our Reading program.

Since we share a campus with the SLPS ESOL Office, we have translators on site to communicate with parents and students when necessary. We have a full time counselor as well as a full time nurse. Students are provided with health care on site.  We work with many community partners to make sure our familes needs are met.  Proudly, we work in conjunction with the International Institute to settle families into our wonderful city.

We currently have just over 200 students enrolled in grades K-8.  Our student breakdown of languages is shown below.
