Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Jennifer Kennedy

Welcome to my page!

This will be my first year teaching at Gateway High School after previously working with students with IEPs as a Support Specialist. I'm super excited to see some familiar faces and all the new ones, as well! As a STL native, working with high schoolers who live near the city just feels like home.

I graduated in 2017 from UMSL where I studied Psychology and Criminology. Spent several years working at WashU scanning brains for a massive research study (including my own, which I will proudly show anyone the picture of). Ultimately, I'm working my way up to becoming a professor at a university-but I must admit, working with young minds is incredibly fulfilling! For the 2022-23 school year, I will have scholars in ELL-sheltered English 1, Read & Write 3, and World History.

At the root of my instruction, I believe growth and compassion are most important. In 20 years, you may forget what direction the Nile flows, but you'll never lose the moments that helped shape you into a better human being.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” -Maya Angelou, also a STL native

PS. It's a hard-knock life out here for us teachers; I will never say no to someone buying items from my classroom Amazon wishlist:
