Hello! My name is Shaun Ballman and I am the 7th and 8th grade ELA teacher at Lyon Academy. 

This will be my 2nd year of teaching in SLPS after I joined the St. Louis Teacher Residency Program in June 2021. I am originally from the St. Louis area and it's incredibly exciting to get to work with the children who will help shape our city's future. I graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2014 with a degree in education and then I obtained a law degree from Emory University in 2018. After serving in various political and education policy-focused positions in Atlanta, Georgia, and Washington, D.C., I was inspired to return to my home town and make a difference in the lives of our city's youth. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our goldendoodle, Teddy, and cheering on the Cardinals and Blues! 

This year will be filled with fun and engaging activities, exciting stories, and so much more. My goal is to inspire your child to become a lifelong learner and provide them with a classroom where they can thrive. I look forward to working with you and getting to know your scholars to help them reach their fullest potential. Thank you for trusting me with your child’s education.
