Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Mears

Originally from California, I moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2006. After completing my undergrad degree at Missouri State University, I moved to St. Louis in 2018 and discovered a passion for exchanging knowledge with younger generations. My career in education began as a building substitute for St. Louis Public schools.  The following school year, I pursued certification in Secondary Science via St Louis Teacher Residency in partnership with SLPS and Washington University in St Louis.

I have a beautiful toddler, Hazel and the cutest bernedoodle, Coconut. In my free time, I like exploring new restaurants in St. Louis, attending live music events, roller skating, and being outdoors (hiking, camping, and floating).   ** « « LEO » » **

  • Welcome Jaguar Families!

I am the 8th grade science teacher at Carr Lane VPA Middle School. First, I would like to express how honored I am to serve the students and families that make up our learning community. This is my second year at Carr Lane and fifth year working for St. Louis Public Schools.

This year I have set high goals to promise the success of our scholars. We will continue to integrate new ways of learning - it will be unlike any other year ever experienced.  The first goal is to include student families in the learning experience every step of the way. I will do my best to maintain consistent communication with you, as I also invite parents and guardians to reach out with any ideas to spur student investment.  My number one focus is the well-being and social-emotional growth of every scholar that attends Carr Lane. To ensure students are thriving, the second goal is to make sure we build life skills via technology, platforms, and various manipulative materials. Flexible learning approaches will drive student sense-making to better understand the world around us. To prepare for state testing and next year in high school, the goal is that every student is proficient in grade level standards. All students will be held to high expectations and their learning experience in my classroom will guarantee academic achievements. I want to help your child refine their work habits, think independently,  and resolve conflicts peacefully.

I am confident in my ability to lead scholars though rigorous lessons rooted in care and support for the diverse student body at CLVPA. Again, to build this positive learning environment and foster meaningful relationships, I need you! I am here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime. I look forward to a fun year of learning science with your student!
