Dr. Dianne Berendzen, Ed. D.

My name is Dianne Berendzen.  I am proud to say I have served the students of St. Louis Public Schools for 28 years.  I worked at Walnut Park, Gundlach, Clay, and Ford Elementary Schools.  I taught first grade for ten years, then supported teachers as an instructional coach for thirteen years.  In 2019, I had the privilege of moving to NCNAA as the assistant principal.  I served in this capacity for four years.  I am excited to now serve as the Interim Principal of Nahed Chapman New American Academy!

My credentials include a Doctorate in Teacher Leadership and a Master's in School Administration from Maryville University.  I also possess a Master's in Teaching and a Reading Specialist Certificate from Webster University.  My Bachelor's Degree is in Architecture from Washington University, but after working in architecture for a brief time, I decided that my passion was education.  I then earned a teaching certificate through the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  I have spent much of my adult life going to school!

I live in Webster Groves with my husband John and Miko, a rescue cat.  We enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors.  We also enjoy spending time with family, including two grandchildren who live nearby.

I love working with the students and families at NCNAA.  The families are so gracious and the students are eager to learn.  I believe that each student has unique potential.  As a school leader, I lead with fairness and empathy, striving to ensure that all students are treated equitably so they can receive the best education possible.
