Meet the teacher

  • Dbutler

My name is Deborah Butler and I’ve been teaching Special Education at Gateway STEM High School for over ten years. I have a passion for teaching, and I believe successful students learn by being exposed to various styles of learning modalities. Virtual Online Learning is a way for your child to continue with education during this time.

    My Approach to Teaching:

My personal approach in teaching children is a holistic view. I believe, “It takes a village to raise a child”. This approach includes parental and student involvement, close knit relationships with building staff and community links.

    My Biography:

I have taught for St. Louis Public School District for approximately seventeen years.  I will be teaching Practical English, Reading 180, Freshman Literature and American History to you.

    EDUCATION:

I received a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Missouri-Columbia, Certification in Urban Education from Washington University and a Master of Arts in Special Education from Fontbonne University.  I am also a Reading Specialist. I have two children: Monique and Marlon, Jr.  My family enjoys traveling, bowling and spending leisure time together.  In my spare time, I like to read, relax, sing, swim, and spend time with my family.  I believe life should be filled with love, positive memories, joy, peace, hope, experiences and laughter.

This will be a great and exciting year at Gateway because your child will be a part of our team! You are welcome to contact me if you have questions or concerns regarding your child.
