Welcome to Gateway STEM High School! My name is Deborah Butler and I taught at St. Louis Public School District for 20 years. During the past thirteen years, I have instructed students with Autism. This year I will be located on the third floor. I have a passion for teaching and strongly believe that all children can learn. I also believe successful students learn by being exposed to various styles of learning modalities. My personal approach to teaching children is a holistic view. I believe, “It takes a village to raise a child”. This approach includes parents, student involvement, and close-knit relationships with building staff along with community links.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Arts in Special Education from Fontbonne University. I am also a Reading Specialist. I have two children: Monique and Marlon, Jr. In my spare time, I like to read, relax, sing, swim, and spend time with my family. I believe life should be filled with love, joy, peace, hope, experiences, and laughter.
This will be a great and exciting year for your family at Gateway because your child will be a part of our team! You are welcome to contact me if you have questions or concerns regarding your child. My contact information is by email @ deborah.butler@slps.org. I am looking forward to meeting you and working with your child.
