Teacher Message: Students should set up an account on my website, www.slps-academy.org, for access to all resources available for the Public Safety Academy courses. The www.slps-academy.org website will provide all the information they need to be successful in class.
We also provide students the opportunity to assume leadership roles within the class, in addition to on-the-job internship experiences.
Gateway's Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program is certified as an Emergency Medical Services training entity with the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) and has also been certified as a Training Center with the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI). Gateway's EMT program can also provide training in First Aid and CPR.
The St Louis Public Schools Fire Academy, with permission from the State of Missouri, Division of Fire Safety, provides all the required training to become a Firefighter (Fire 1 & 2). The Fire Academy curriculum covers Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, Personal Protective Equipment, Firefighting techniques and other required topics. We also provide students the opportunity to assume leadership roles within the class.
The Public Safety Academy also has a number of Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs who volunteer their time to help the students achieve their goals of becoming Firefighter-EMTs. We are the only high school in the State of Missouri that is also recognized as a Fire Department.
Biography: Mr Riddle is the Chief, St Louis Public Schools Public Safety Academy; Chief, St Louis Public Schools Fire & EMS; Program Director and Primary Instructor for the Gateway STEM High School EMT program, a Nationally Registered Paramedic, Firefighter 1 & 2, Fire Instructor 1, an American Heart Association CPR Instructor in CPR, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Instructor and a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) authorized Incident Command System (ICS) instructor. He has a Class A Peace Officer License in Missouri. He is also a Private Pilot, a Rescue Scuba Diver and an amateur radio operator.
Chief Riddle is a member of the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), National Association of Emergency Medical Services Educators (NAEMSE), the Missouri Emergency Medical Services Association (MEMSA), Missouri Peace Officers Association (MPOA), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion.
He is a retired US Air Force officer and has served overseas in England, the Philippines, Korea and Honduras. His assignments in the US include Texas, Arizona, Montana, Illinois and Missouri.
In his spare time, he volunteers with North Central Region, Civil Air Patrol, the USAF Auxiliary(www.gocivilairpatrol.com).
