     Dear Sigel Parents & Families:

Greetings! I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to some (and reintroduce to others) as the Family & Community Specialist serving Sigel Elementary School for the 2015-2016 school year. As a part of the SLPS Office of Family & Community Engagement, my purpose is to serve by enhancing student attendance, developing a collaborative bond with parents, families and community partners and increasing parent awareness of federal, state, district and school policies. I am committed to ensuring that Sigel Elementary is in compliance with all policies and mandates of the Saint Louis Public School District.

Research shows that parent involvement is a key factor in leading students into successfully developing both academically and socially. My goal is to increase parental involvement at our school in order to promote student achievement within our Sigel family. As a part of this effort, we have asked all of our families to complete volunteer packets and return them in order to be free to participate in all activities including field trips, classroom activities, etc. Please complete the enclosed application and return to the school. (Packets are available in the office and will be available during our Open House on Wednesday, August 12 from 5-6:30pm) You can also pick up a STAR Parent Card that you can present at any event that you attend to receive a participation stamp. Once your card is full, return it to the office to be entered into a drawing for a special monthly prize.

Sigel Elementary School is an institution that prides itself in operating in excellence, and maintaining a strong network of parent/community supporters is a key aspect in achieving that goal. With that being said, I am soliciting your help in making this a successful school year.
