Ms. Indria Harris
Every since I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed helping others. My passion for helping others continued on through adulthood, which landed me in the social services field, and eventually into the counseling profession. I began my career in 2012, after completing my Masters of Art degree in School Counseling at Lindenwood University. Prior to my current assignment, I worked as an elementary and middle school counselor in two other St. Louis Public Schools.
I joined the Peabody staff in 2014. Since then I've been deeply invested in creating a safe, learning environment for our scholars. There is never a dull day at Peabody. Every day and every experience is new and different in my role as school counselor. My primary responsibility is teaching our scholars important lessons and life skills related to academic, career and social/emotional awareness. My secondary responsibility is assisting our scholars and their families with meeting their basic needs, to ensure success inside and outside the classrooms. I also serve as a team member on several committees offered at Peabody, like the School wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) committee, Student Support Team, Trauma Informed Programming in Schools (TIPS) Team, Girl Scouts, Red Ribbon Week committee, and other programs where needed.
Outside of school, I am heavily involved in various community related sports and activities for youth. I enjoy seeing kids have fun and enjoy their childhood, while learning important skills like healthy communication, accountability, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
I pride myself on the love, services and resources I provide to our scholars, because everything I do for and with our scholars, I also do for my own biological children!
