Hi there and welcome to room 113! My name is Michelle Mueller and I will be your child's teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. This is my fourth year here at Woodward and I absolutely love working here. I graduated from Webster University in 2015 take great pride in my career as a first grade teacher.
A little about me:
I grew up in St. Louis and have always known I wanted to be a teacher. In highschool, a very inspiring teacher of mine recomended the teaching field for me and since then I have been very motivated to be the best educator I can be. I love children and I hope to make a positive impact on every student that walks through my door.
I'm married to my high school sweetheart, John. Together we have two daughters. Bella is 6 years old and in first grade at St. Gabes in south city. Vivian is a year and half. I am extremely close to my immediate family as well as cousins and extended family. I am an aunt as of recently and greatly enjoy spending my spare time with my niece and nephew. Family is very important to me, as I look forward to meeting each and every one of you and getting to know you and yours.
About our classroom:
-Our room number is 113. We are located on the same floor as the front office in the back right corner of the hallway.
-Class Dojo is an excellent tool that we use here at Woodward, I require all parents to connect for easy forms of communicating and updates.
-Parents are always welcome to our room! Please contact me before you wish to visit/assist and be sure to sign in at the office before entering the classroom.
-I encourage all parents to visit the "Resources Link" for multiple website options to experience with your child at home.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to working with all of your children this year!
Every night your child will bring home their Daily Planner. This will be marked with their behavior color for the day and needs to be signed and returned the following day. On Fridays, I ask that the planners are returned signed on Monday and returned.
Your child will bring home a math worksheet every night EXCEPT Fridays, special occassions or days of tests. Due to the common core curriculum, homework can be difficult for parents to understand. It is different methods and strategies than the way you and I were taught in the past. If you have any questions regarding math, please don't hesitate to ask.
I require all parents to connect to our class dojo site. I will send you a text invitation first, if you do not respsond to that I will send you an email invitation. I will also send home paper invites within the first week of school.
Class DOJO will be updated throughout the day with your childs behavior points. On Friday, if we have reached 80% positive behavior or more, we will have Fun Friday. During Fun Friday, children are split into different centers that contain extended learning activities that directly correspond with our curriculum. It is an extension of a topic we have practiced during that week.
