Ms. Karen Shirley

My name is Karen Shirley. I have been teaching in a special education classroom at Humboldt for the past 9 years. I work with students with a variety of needs. I am blessed to have the help of 2 amazing instructional care aids in my classroom. We work hard each day to meet the physical, social, emotional, and educational needs of all our students.  Prior to teaching in SLPS, I taught in the North St. Francois County School District for 9 years.

    • How to access my account:
      • Download the Microsoft Teams app
      • Login to the student account using the student login information that has been provided to each student

    • Student Work Expectations:
      • Students will receive weekly work. Some will be virtual and some will be in the packets provided on Thursdays. I will be at Humboldt every Thursday from 8:00am -3:00pm to exchange work for your student. If you are unable to make it to the building during this time please let me know and I will make arrangements to make the exchange.
      • All assignments will be due on Thursdays.

    • Class Meetings
      • We will have a class meeting every morning at 9:15 to take attendance and set the tone for the day. These meetings will be facilitated through our Microsoft Teams classroom (Shirley 23-24). The picture is an Orca Whale to help you find it.
    • Each student has a schedule of when they will be in virtual class with me. During their independent work time, students will have access to work with Ms. Stringer or Mr. Goldberg. This will be similar to what we would do in the classroom.
