I am Shekita McKenney and am a proud team member of the Panthers at Hamilton Elementary. This is my 8th year at Hamilton and my 11th year in the SLPS district. Prior to employment with this district, I worked as a Preschool Teacher at a daycare and a Teacher's Assistant at a neighboring school district. I have spent two years as a second grade teacher, 5 years in 1st grade, and this year I will be our 4th grade teacher at Hamilton. 

 

    I graduated from Lincoln University in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics and Computer Science and am a student at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in efforts to obtain my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. As we prepare our children for the 21st Century, my goal as a life-long learner is to educate students with the future in mind.

 

     I am the mother of an 8-year-old son (+1 coming soon!) and the stepmother of two teenage girls. When I am not teaching, I enjoy shopping, watching movies, trying new foods, and spending time with my family. 

 

     I look forward to a wonderful year as a Fourth Grade Teacher and I can't wait to see what's in store!
