I am Shekita Hilton and am a proud team member of the Panthers at Hamilton Elementary. This is my fourth year at Hamilton and also my fourth year in the SLPS district. Prior to employment with this district I worked as a Preschool Teacher at a daycare and a Teacher's Assistant at a neighborboring school district. I spent my first two years as a second grade teacher at Hamilton. The 2018-2019 school year will be my second year as a 1st grade teacher and I couldn't ask for a better grade to teach.
I graduated from Lincoln University in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Mathematics and Computer Science. This Fall, I will be attending my second year at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in efforts to obtain my Master's Degree in Curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in STEM Education. As we prepare our children for the 21st Century, my goal as a life long learner is to educate students with the future in mind.
I am the mother of a four year old son and the stepmother of two teenage girls. I recently got married and will soon be changing my last name to McKenney. When I am not teaching I enjoy shopping, watching movies, trying new foods, and spending time with my family.
I look forward to another wonderful year as a First Grade Teacher and I can't wait to see what's in store!
