Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Phillips-Long, M.Ed ²

I am Mrs. Phillips-Long. I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and I have been teaching Special Education for 2 years. I really enjoy teaching at Nance Elementary School! My main goals are to motivate my students to do their best and to encourage them to extend their own personal limits. I strive to instill a love of learning and to make learning exciting and interesting. Part of this process includes differentiating lessons and having close interactions with parents to reinforce learning in the home.

I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education with specializations in Health/Physical Education and Special Education from Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas. I have also earned two Master's of Education degrees from the University of Missouri - St. Louis; one in Special Education (2003) and one in Educational Administration (2006). I am married with two children, have eight grandchildren.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me at 314-867-0634, email me at or message me on Class DoJo.

Let's have a great school year!
