Hello, and welcome to my teacher page. I am Mr. Miller, the 6th grade social studies and 7th grade advisory teacher. I have been part of the McKinley learning community since the 2014-2015 school year. In my time here, I have had the amazing opportunity to work with so many gifted and talented learners, their families, and fellow staff. I love my job. I love being a teacher. I especially love being the 6th Grade Social Studies teacher at McKinley! My hope is to be the 6th grade social studies teacher at McKinley until I retire. Did I mention I love being the 6th grade social studies teacher at McKinley?
Since March of 2020 circumstances have proved particularly challenging. Everyone is working very hard to overcome our challenges. Our learners, and their families have not only gone through the difficult transition into middle school but have surpassed far beyond to reach the seemingly impossible ideal of maintaining quality gifted education under this global pandemic. We are strong! No one is unaffected from the issues we face, and some of us are much more affected than others.
Currently, my classes are taught using a simultaneous hybrid model. Meaning I teach students virtually and in a physical classroom, at the same time. Although this model has its challenges, we are currently able to use a variety of tools to teach in new ways. I am the first to admit that this process is a work in progress. We have a long way to go but we have come a long way. Education is constantly evolving, so too are my methods for teaching and engaging learners. Regardless of where we happen to be physically located, my goal is to reach and teach every learner to the best of my abilities. I am a hyper-reflective practitioner who embraces change. If you as a parent, student, or guardian ever need my support, I am a request away. My email address is email@example.com please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I am here to help.
