Looking Ahead to 2027–28 at SLPS
Saint Louis Public Schools is preparing for the 2027–28 school year with learning opportunities designed to help students grow, explore their interests and thrive.

As part of Future Ready SLPS, the District is developing a new Focus Schools model. Focus Schools will offer specialized learning experiences centered around particular areas of interest, while neighborhood schools will continue to serve as an important foundation of the SLPS experience for students and families across Saint Louis.
The Focus Schools model will take the place of the District's current Magnet School structure.
In previous years, Magnet School applications opened early October. Because the Future Ready SLPS proposal remains under consideration by the Board of Education, the application process for 2027–28 will open later this year.
Families interested in Focus Schools will not miss their opportunity to apply. Once the school portfolio is finalized, SLPS will share information about Focus School programs, eligibility and application requirements, important dates and how to apply.
The Board of Education is currently scheduled to consider the Future Ready SLPS recommendation on November 10, 2026.
