Back to School Meet and Greet, Aug 13, 2019

Thank you to our parents, siblings, students, staff, and community partners for coming to our Back to School Meet and Greet! This was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy snowcones, reconnect with our staff, and to meet each child's new teacher. It was a hot day in the garden, but we loved seeing our families and meeting our students! Join us at our next event, our Open House on August 28th from 3:30-5:00pm!

    Open House, August 28, 2019

    Open House Night

Thank you to over 50 family members who came out to meet our staff and see their child's classroom during our back to school Open House Night on August 28, 2019. It was a joy to meet you and see your children interact with their siblings and their family members. We met proud grandparents, parents, sisters, brothers, aunties, and uncles! We got to see your child in a different light as they took care of baby siblings and showed off their classroom with happiness and pride. Thank you for joining us this evening for our reception and for meeting our staff. Please join us at our next family event on Friday, Sept 6th for Grandparents' Day!

    Grandparents' Day, September 6, 2019

    GPD

Thank you to all of our grandparents that came from near and far to join our students for breakfast and time in their classrooms. One of our pre-school students actually wiggled with pure joy when she saw her grandma walk into her classroom! We love our grandparents and it was a special morning celebrating them for National Grandparents' Day. You can read more about this event here: https://www.smore.com/k4w5y

Walking Field Trip to the Central Public Library, Weekly Event!

    Library

Each week, our first graders have the opportunity to take a walking field trip to the beautiful Central Public Library in downtown St. Louis. This is one of the most beautiful buildings in the entire city! Each room is designed in a different era and style of architecture. Our students get to hear a read aloud in the children's section, and then get to explore the vast number of books and beautiful reading spaces. We are so lucky to live here!

Darrion Hendricks Honored at Awards Ceremony, September 20, 2019

    Award

Darrion Hendricks found a gun in a public park, and not only did he call the police immediately to report it, but he also stayed in the area to make sure that no other child found it and got hurt. The St. Louis Police Department nominated him for the "Do the Right Thing" Award, and we could not be more proud of him here at Patrick Henry!

Patrick Henry Welcomes Award-Winning Author Pablo Cartaya, Oct 1, 2019

    Pablo Cartaya

We were so lucky to hear Pablo Cartaya speak at Patrick Henry to introduce his latest book! Each Tiny Spark is a book about Emilia Torres and her father finding their way back to each other after he returns home from deployment. Pablo spoke to our upper elementary students not only about this incredible book, but also how to love and appreciate your identify, heritage, and culture. Pablo then signed books and sent each student home with a copy! Thank you to Left Bank Books, a community partner bookstore who arranged the visit and ensured every student received a copy of the book!
