Saint Louis Public Schools Unveil New Verizon Innovative Learning Lab at AESM
Students at the Academy of Entrepreneurship Studies Middle School (AESM) at L’Overture and Pamoja Preparatory Academy are now equipped with state-of-the-art Verizon Innovative Learning Labs. These facilities, established with support from Verizon, Heart of America, and the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute at Arizona State University, mark a major milestone in providing cutting-edge resources to students.
The newly unveiled labs at AESM and Pamoja Preparatory Academy offer students and educators access to advanced technologies such as augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), 3D printing, and artificial intelligence (AI). These tools are part of Verizon’s broader initiative to bridge the digital divide in under-resourced communities by providing free technology and internet access alongside hands-on learning experiences. The initiative aligns with Verizon’s commitment to fostering digital inclusion and preparing students for the demands of the digital economy.
With these labs, SLPS now hosts four Verizon Innovative Learning Labs, joining those previously established at Long Middle School and Yeatman-Liddell Middle School. The labs are designed to transform the educational experience, allowing for more interactive and engaging learning opportunities. Through a project-based curriculum provided by the J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute, teachers receive specialized training to maximize the use of these new technologies in their teaching practices.
The impact of these labs is expected to be profound, fundamentally changing how teachers teach and students learn, ensuring that SLPS students are not only consumers of technology but also creators and innovators. As the digital landscape evolves, SLPS students will be well-equipped to navigate, contribute to, and excel in the digital economy. Just more proof that you can go anywhere from here!
