Metro Academic and Classical High School Named National Blue Ribbon School

Saint Louis Public Schools (SLPS) is proud to announce that Metro Academic and Classical High School has been recognized as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This prestigious recognition honors schools for outstanding academic achievement and exemplary student performance.

Metro High School joins two other SLPS schools—Betty Wheeler Classical Junior Academy and Mallinckrodt Academy of Gifted Instruction—as National Blue Ribbon Schools. Both schools received this esteemed award in 2023.

"Metro High School exemplifies the dedication of our educators, students, and families," said Acting Superintendent Dr. Millicent Borishade. "This recognition is a testament to their commitment to academic excellence, creating a learning environment where all students can thrive."

The National Blue Ribbon Schools program honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students achieve at the highest levels. Metro’s recognition reflects its outstanding academic performance and contributions to the growth of all students,

Dr. Tina Hamilton, principal of Metro High School, expressed her pride in the school community. “This achievement reflects the hard work and perseverance of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the unwavering support of our families. We are honored to be recognized on a national level for our commitment to excellence.”

The official National Blue Ribbon Schools award ceremony will take place on November 7 and 8, 2024, in Washington, DC.
