Regions Bank Honors Metro HS Graduates of the Regions Financial Scholars Program

ST. LOUIS, MO – May 12, 2015 – Yesterday, Regions Bank recognized more than 70 Metro High School students for their completion of the Regions Financial Scholars Program, an online financial education platform designed to empower young people with the essential skills needed to make sound financial decisions. The ceremony included remarks from Regions Bank, SLPS Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Adams, Metro Principal Dr. Wilfred Moore, a student representative, and a keynote address by City Treasurer Tishaura Jones.

“It is important for young people to learn about financial decision making early on in life,” said Mike Hart, Regions Bank Midwest Area President. “That is why we’re proud to partner with Saint Louis Public Schools to bring this innovative online program into schools and excited to celebrate students’ accomplishments together.”

Regions has partnered with leading education technology company EverFi, Inc. to bring this interactive, web-based financial management program to local schools at no cost to schools or taxpayers.

“Part of our responsibility as educators is to prepare students to be successful not only in our classrooms but also many years after graduation,” said Dr. Adams, SLPS Superintendent of Schools. “Financial literacy is critical to long-term success, and we appreciate the work Regions and EverFi, Inc. have done to help our students establish good financial habits.”

Powered by EverFi, Regions’ web-based program uses the latest in new media technology – simulations, avatars and gaming – to bring complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation. The high school course, EverFi – Financial Literacy, offers over six hours of programming with ten units in a variety of financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401k’s and other critical concepts that map to national financial literacy standards.

Regions Bank and EverFi work together to provide various forms of digital education to students in schools across eight states. In addition to financial literacy for high schools, Regions’ partnership with EverFi includes a financial education platform provided to university students, as well as adult learners, and an African-American History course for high schools. Since the partnership with Regions and EverFi began, more than 46,000 students and adults have been reached with innovative resources designed to further education and strengthen communities.
