Dear Jefferson Families,
Welcome back to the 2023-24 school year! We hope you had a wonderful summer filled with fun, laughter, and relaxation. As we embark on a new academic year, we are excited to have you all back with us at Jefferson Elementary School.
First and foremost, we want to extend a warm welcome to our new families joining our school community. We are thrilled to have you as part of our family and look forward to getting to know every one of you.
To our returning families, welcome back! We missed you and cannot wait to continue our journey together. We are grateful for your continued trust and support in our school.
This year, we are committed to providing an exceptional learning experience for your children. Our dedicated team of educators has been working tirelessly to prepare engaging and enriching lessons that will challenge and inspire our scholars. We are excited to witness their growth and achievements throughout the year.
At Jefferson Elementary we believe that education is a partnership between the school, parents, and scholars. We encourage open communication and collaboration to ensure the success of our scholars. We value your involvement and invite you to actively participate in your child's education. Whether it's attending parent-teacher conferences, volunteering in the classroom, or joining our parent-teacher association, your contribution makes a significant difference.
We understand that the transition back to school can sometimes be challenging for both parents and scholars. Rest assured, our caring and supportive staff is here to help make this transition as smooth as possible. We will provide a nurturing environment where your child feels safe, valued, and motivated to learn.
Throughout the year, we have planned various events and activities to foster a sense of community and togetherness. From family nights to school-wide celebrations, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to connect with other parents and for scholars to build friendships.
We encourage you to stay updated with school news and events through Class Dojo, our major form of communication, our website, newsletters, and social media platforms. Additionally, please feel free to reach out to us with any questions, concerns, or suggestions you may have. We are here to listen and support you.
Once again, welcome back to Jefferson! We look forward to seeing everyone at

Dear Jefferson Families,
Welcome back to a new school year! We hope your summer was filled with joy, rest, and memorable moments with loved ones. As we prepare to start the 2025–2026 school year, we are excited to welcome our returning students and families, and we extend a heartfelt greeting to the new faces joining our community.
This year presents a unique opportunity for unity and collaboration. Following the tornado that affected our region in May, our neighbors from Ashland Elementary School will be co-locating with Jefferson Elementary while their building undergoes repairs. We are honored to share our space and resources with the Ashland community and look forward to building strong relationships together.
At Jefferson, we believe in the power of community, resilience, and growth. With Ashland joining us, we are embracing the theme: “Soaring and Roaring Together!” Just as eagles soar and bears roar, our students will rise to new horizons and celebrate their strengths side by side.
We are also excited to welcome our scholars back to school on Monday, August 18, 2025. Doors will open at 7:50 a.m. for breakfast. Jefferson students should enter Door 11 and go directly to the cafeteria for breakfast. Once breakfast is complete, we will transition to the gymnasium for our first morning meeting of the year and to welcome all the Ashland Bears to their new temporary home.
This year brings more opportunities for our scholars to engage in STEAM projects and contests, art contests, the Geography Bowl, the Spelling Bee, monthly reading challenges, character education, and fun field experiences designed to complement our rigorous curriculum.
As always, we strive for a growth rate of 2.5% or more in reading and mathematics and will use the 95 Percent Program for phonics to enhance all scholars' reading abilities. Scholars will also take part in quarterly service-learning projects.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in educating your child. Together, we can make this school year one of growth, connection, and success for every child.
With enthusiasm and gratitude,
Dr. Leslie A. Bonner
