Welcome Parents, Guardians and Guests:
Nottingham Community Access & Job Training High School is a school to work program for students with moderate to severe developmental delays. Nottingham CAJT High School is not a typical four year high school. Many of our students stay to their 21st birthday. Our school provides students with functional academic skills and job training to assist them with their ability to live as independently as possible after high school. Classes that are offered include Functional Communication Arts, Functional Math, Daily Living Skills, Food Service, Job Skills Development, Technology, and Custodial Housekeeping. Once students have successfully completed their first four years of classes on campus, they will go to onsite job training. Jobsites include Wells Fargo, MERS Goodwill, Sodexo at Washington University's Cafes. We've partnered with LifeBridge to provide afterschool services for students to learn and maintain work, social, and independent living skills that are going to increase their opportunities in maintaining job placement. We look forward to working with our parents and community partners to be apart of students' high school planning that will ultimately yield success for these young adults.
A big part of the support that is of great value from our parents and guardians is their voice in their students' Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Re evaluation meetings. At this level of their education, we require students to participate in their annual IEP development and triannual Evaluation meetings to allow them to practice self advocacy. But they need their family's support! The school communicates specific resources for your child and exchange strategies for student success. Students should know how important their accomplishments are to all. Our priority is to educate the whole student so that they are ready for the world of work by graduation. As of 2016, Nottingham has been recognized as a National School of Character. We've partnered with several schools and the community to continue our quest of building positive character in students. There are onsite schoolwide team building activities at least twice a month that allow our students to interact with students from other schools as well as volunteering with our community partners. Most recently, Nottingham CAJT was recognized Nationally as a 2019 Promising Practices in Character Education Award Recipient, 2021 Honorable Mention School of Character, and a 2022 State School of Character. So we intentionally focus not only on the academics and job training, but also strong positive character to ensure we're graduating well rounded good people in the community.
