    Welcome Families!

    As we continue to learn together, we are more committed than ever to focus on the following tenets to provide the best curriculum and instruction for your gifted learner:

    Mission: meet the unique academic and affective needs of the gifted and talented student.

    Vision: provide a unique, safe and nurturing school fostering academic achievement and serving the diverse population of gifted and talented students, and providing:

    • Student - centered inquiry based gifted curriculum designed to develop creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

    We are committed to implementing problem and project based learning for all students.

    • Employing technology to aid learning in and out of the classroom setting and providing opportunities for students to apply skills learned to help understand real world problems.

    We are committed to participating in hands-on technology training.

    We are committed to developing and implementing technology curriculum to ensure that students are proficient in these areas.

    • Collaborating with faculty, students, parents, and the community to build a sense of school pride, responsibility, belonging, and a desire for academic excellence.

    We are committed to developing community partnerships.

    We are committed to working with parents in the area of school programming.

    Core Values: develop the traits of honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility.

Announcements

  • Kennard Back-to-School Announcements - July and August

     

    • Monday, July 23: Registration resumes for Newly Accepted Families. Call the school at 353-8875 for more information.
    • Saturday, August 4: Newly Accepted Families Meet and Greet from 10:00am -12:00pm at Berra Park, 1825 Macklind Ave. Water and a light snack will be available.
    • Saturday, August 11: Saint Louis Public Schools and the National Urban League are co-presenting the annual Back to School Community Empowerment Festival on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Convention Plaza at the America's Center. The Back to School Community Empowerment Festival is free for all city residents. Free school supplies and free lunches will be available. Pre-register www.slps.org or www.ulstl.org .
    • Monday, August 13: Kennard’s Annual Open House is from 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm. Meet your child’s teachers, review the curriculum, visit the classroom, and drop off school supplies.  You will also have an opportunity to meet some of our school partners that sponsor programs at Kennard.
    • Tuesday, August 14: First Class Day for all students. School begins promptly at 9:10am and ends at 4:07pm. Breakfast and lunch is free for all students.
    • Tuesday, August 14: Welcome Back Coffee begins at 9:10 am in the library. Sponsored by the PTO, this event provide families an opportunity to mingle and enjoy coffee on the first day of school.
