My name is Don Guinn and I'm excited to be starting my seventh year as the Physical Education and Health teacher at Nottingham CAJT High School. Before I started teaching at Nottingham, I completed my undergraduate degree at Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I'm certified in both Physical Education and Health in the state of Missouri. In 2019, I graduated from Missouri Baptist University with a Master's in Educational Administration and am a certified secondary building level administrator. This past summer, I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with an Educational Specialist Degree in teacher leadership. My goal as the physical education teacher is to teach students of Nottingham CAJT the skills needed to lead a healthy and active lifestyle while developing an understanding of its importance in life after high school.
In addition to teaching, I'm the Athletic Director at Nottingham CAJT. I coordinate and coach our Character Education volleyball and basketball teams. I also plan and coach our track events for the Special Olympic track meet each spring. I'm also the Wellness Champion at Nottingham. In my role as Wellness Champion, I strive to improve the health and wellness culture of our school.
I believe that the skills and knowledge learned through physical education are important keys to the overall success of our students after graduation. I want students to enjoy physical activity and to recognize the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle as it relates to living a longer, healthier life.
