Woerner Elementary School has been named the Missouri School of the Year for 2015 by Do The Right Thing.  Superintendent Dr. Kelvin Adams joined Woerner Principal Peggy Meyers and several staff members for the official recognition ceremony on August 7th at St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.

The Do The Right Thing initiative was started in St. Louis in 1994.  The goals of Do The Right Thing are to reinforce and increase good behavior in school-age children in the Bi-State region, to increase positive media coverage of the good things school-age children do, and to continue to increase the ways in which children are recognized for the good things they do.

Since the inception of Do The Right Thing in 1994, more than a thousand children have been recognized each year for their good deeds. Children are nominated by teachers, friends, family members and others.  All nominated children receive a certificate, a t-shirt and McDonald's food coupons.  A total of 12 children are selected each month to attend a recognition ceremony and appear on a Channel 4 commercial.
