Dr. Azalia Carter

Hello Soldan families!
I am excited to introduce myself as the new principal of Soldan International Studies High. I am honored to be selected to join Soldan and elevate its mission of graduating lifelong learners who are prepared for further study, employment, and leadership in a global society.
I bring with me over 20 years of experience in education as a teacher, education consultant, and administrator. I started my career in education as a high school science and math teacher. After leaving the classroom, I worked for a number of educational companies partnering with school districts in the St. Louis region and across the country to increase student achievement. I come to Soldan from Collegiate School of Medicine and Bioscience where I was the assistant principal for the past two years.
My expectations of students in terms of their achievements and behaviors are high. My personal mission is to be of service and empower students to become the best versions of themselves. I will do this by partnering with the entire school community to foster positive, caring, and meaningful teaching and learning experiences for all Soldan scholars.

I look forward to getting to know the scholars and families of Soldan and introducing you to my family. I am the proud mother to two awesome young adults who think I am the best mom ever. Maya is a senior at Kentucky State University, and Zach is a sophomore at Rhodes College in Memphis.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly with questions, concerns, or suggestions. Together we can make Soldan a great place for your scholars.
